About the Work
BLUE FELT is a response to the Immense sea, surrounding Bornholm - Denmark, and is a contemplative installation that speaks to the profound relationship between land and sea, invoking the vastness of the ocean through both material and form. This piece features steel mesh, meticulously cut into a square, its grid-like structure contrasting with the organic shapes of hand-dyed felt squares that seem to drift upon its surface. Each felt square is carefully placed, evoking the unpredictability of waves as they shift and move, while the blue gloss paint on the gallery floor draws a circle, symbolizing the eternal horizon.
The steel wire and sewing thread tie these elements together, weaving a narrative of tension and connection. The piece invites viewers to engage with the space, asking them to reflect on the delicate interplay between control and chaos, permanence and fluidity. The installation leaves a lasting impression, with its intricate design and thought-provoking use of space, capturing the essence of nature’s vast, uncontrollable beauty.
